Prior Warning Notices for all Fingal Beaches

Miscellaneous Alert, Aug. 4th 2023
Prior Warning Notices for 6 days for all Fingal Identified Bathing Waters due to Yellow Rainfall Warning possibility of increase in levels of bacteria in water

Prior Warning Notices issued for all Fingal Identified Bathing Waters for 6 days due to heavy rain predicted

Bathers are advised of the possibility of an increase in the levels of bacteria in the bathing water over the coming days due to very heavy rainfall.

Met Éireann issued a yellow rainfall warning for Dublin yesterday (Thursday 3/8/23) at 15:53p.m. for the following period;

Expected Onset: Friday 4/8/2023 18:00

Expires: Saturday 5/8/2023 13:00

There is potential risk of deterioration of water quality in such events and the HSE were consulted following this Alert on 3rd August, 2023 regarding the issue of prior warnings for the following beaches (without a current notice); South Strand, Skerries, Loughshinny, Rush North, Rush South, Balcarrick Beach, Donabate, Velvet Strand, Portmarnock, Burrow beach, Sutton and Claremont beach.

This has been agreed and notices have been prepared for these beaches (see attached).

We are also proposing to place a similar notice at the Non-identified bathing water at Malahide.

There is already an All Season Advisory at Front Strand beach, Balbriggan and a current Prohibition Notice at The Brook beach, Portrane.

Resamples have been arranged.

Please see advice on the 48 hour rule with regard to swimming https://www.beaches.ie/protect-your-health-with-the-48-hour-rule/
